Perth’s Terrace Hotel has been listed as a finalist in this year’s West Australian Heritage Awards. Established over 20 years ago, the awards are a showcase for excellence in revitalising properties in the State Register of Heritage Places – identifying both innovation and best practice standards.

Opened in November 2012, the luxury property has 15 suites, a restaurant with a garden terrace, dining, bar, wine cellar and three private function rooms. “It is such a beautiful property it caught the eye of famed entrepreneur Lord McAlpine, who saved it from demolition in the early 1980’s,” says General Manager, Michael Collins.

“Our projection is always to pay respect to this landmark building’s heritage whilst ensuring it presents to our guests the very best in 21st-century accommodation and services.”

A former Anglican Bishop’s residence built in 1892, The Terrace Hotel is an example of Edwardian terrace architecture and sits on some of the first land grants of the colony.

The West Australian Heritage Awards will be held on the 16th April 2012. Outstanding conservation projects will be showcased in the Asia-Pacific region through cooperation between the State Heritage Office and UNESCO.   The Terrace’s listing is in the outstanding heritage tourism product category.
