Stokehouse is one of five finalists from around the world for Best New Restaurant by the Wallpaper* Design Awards 2013! Designed by Queensland-based architecture and interior design firm, Arkhefield, the restaurant is the only Australian restaurant to be a finalist in this category.

Completed in November 2011 and located in the River Quay precinct at South Bank, also designed by Arkhefield, the restaurant seeks to embody an experience and expression unique to Queensland. The design personifies the relaxed elegance of the original St Kilda restaurant in Melbourne whilst creating its own atmosphere in a sub-tropical setting.

“We are thrilled to see Stokehouse and Brisbane leading the way for Australian
restaurants globally,” says Arkhefield Associate Interior Designer Angela Layton. “But most of all, we are delighted with how Stokehouse has been embraced by the community and become something that everyone can be proud of. The real outcome is that it shows off the best of Brisbane and gets people excited to share the city they live in.”

Other finalists in the Best New Restaurant category include The NoMad in
New York, Geist in Copenhagen, Dabbous in London and Attimo in Sao Paolo.
