Next Monday 25 March, The Ivanhoe Hotel will re-open following an eight-month long major refurbishment. The design channels a Hamptons-inspired coastal beach vibe while retaining the relaxed atmosphere of Manly and a local pub.

The pub’s new fit-out features lots of natural timbers, sandstone walls, lush greenery and coastal chic furnishings. Various elements of the local beaches’ community have been incorporated into the bespoke design and build, including paintings of old surf club members adorning the walls and much of the specialised woodwork created by a local from Narrabeen.

Following the architectural redesign, which involved input from Manly Council’s local heritage office, The Ivanhoe Hotel now boasts a total of sixteen indoor and outdoor relaxed all-weather spaces over three floors, including two rooftop bars. The ground and first floor offer seated dining and bar areas while The Pines, on level two, recreates an old-school surf club hangout complete with ping pong bats, tennis racquets, dance floor, outdoor greenhouse and lots of lush pine trees.

The Ivanhoe Hotel engaged some of the industry’s biggest names, including food and restaurant consultant Lothar Winkler, Bar Solutions bar consultant Grant Collins, design architect Paul Kelly Design and interior stylist, Sibella Court.

“Manly has really turned up the sophistication dial over the past few years and is making its mark on the food and drink map in Sydney,” says owner Tim Peterson. “We wanted The Ivanhoe Hotel to remain that relaxed and welcoming local meeting place for the community, but at the same time provide a pub offering that was a cut above.”
