Cronulla RSL:

38 Gerrale St, Cronulla NSW
(02) 9523 6833 or www.cronullarsl.com.au

John Waters, CEO of Cronulla RSL, was presiding over a club that was ticking over unspectacularly. What has always been spectacular, is the view — panoramic vistas of the Pacific Ocean. Saying that, there was an elevated bowling green between the club and those million dollar views… not anymore.

When the bowling green had reached its useby date and the desire for generational change had gathered real momentum in the boardroom, the trigger was pulled: it was time to build over the green, and completely re-imagine the club’s F&B offering.

Alfredo’s

Directly behind Alfred and Constance
(07) 3251 6555 or www.alfredos.com.au

The bright white tiles and the yellow neon sign on Alfred Street have been sparking the interest of locals who are excited to see a late-night Pizzeria open in Brisbane. Alfredo’s is the newest haunt to join a village of venues that are forming on the Valley fringe.

The latest addition to the once-derelict area in the outskirts of Brisbane’s CBD, Alfredo’s is Damian Griffith’s latest venture, with Alfred & Constance opening late last year and Lime’s being the first boutique designer hotel and rooftop bar to Brisbane five years ago.

Griffiths has once again teamed up with designer, Alexander Lotersztain to create a space that blends an unexpected modern, edginess with traditional Italian roots. The wood-fired oven is the hero of the space, made with vintage tiles from England, surrounded by a small, cosy bar with an industrial feel.

BROMIC WARMS UP CAFE SYDNEY

Bromic Heating Press Release 10-7-13

Café Sydney

Customs House, Alfred St, Circular Quay
(02) 9251 8683 or www.cafesydney.com

For Café Sydney Restaurant Manager Todd Cummins, the “big drawcard” of the particularly dining experience is the outside dining area that takes full advantage of the venue’s striking views of Sydney Harbour. “There’s not many restaurants in Sydney with an outside area on level 5 of a building,” Todd explains. “Most of them are on the ground floor. So that makes it special”.

With half of the restaurant located outside, it was imperative that this premium space offered a level of year round comfort – but not just any heater would do. “We had [heaters] which were very ineffective – the wind kept blowing them out all the time” Todd goes on to say. “So we had to look at other designs. We had to look at what technologies were out to see how we could better improve outside.”

ALFRESCO TRANSFORMATIONS

Revesby Workers Club - Alfresco Gaming (1)

An uplifting alfresco transformation is great for business. Altis Architecture’s Design Director, Rolfe Latimer, explains.

Altis Architecture’s recent club projects include new contemporary and innovative alfresco design solutions for gaming and F&B areas which are delivering significant revenue increases for clubs.

Altis have recently completed three major club refurbishments at Revesby Workers, Wenty Leagues and the Shellharbour Club that have delivered double digit percentage revenue increases in gaming and F&B facilities.
These club renovations in the $5m-$10m building cost range have been underpinned by distinctive alfresco design solutions that offer a clever point of difference to their competition. This has been reflected directly in the ‘new member’ patrons enjoying the new gaming, dining and entertainment facilities.
The aspirational design creates the ‘perfect’ ambience and atmosphere with a seamless integration of the indoor area to the alfresco outdoor area.

NEW LOOK FOR TARONGA ZOO CENTRE

Taronga Zoo Centre

Bradleys Head Rd, Mosman 2000
(02) 9969 2777 or taronga.org.au/TarongaCentre/Functions

The Taronga View Centre was originally designed by renowned Australian architect Michael Dysart. The new design concepts for the interiors were realised by Restaurant Associates and a variety of sub-contractors. The dual-level function space consists of the Harbourview Ballroom on level one and the Harbourview Terrace on level two.

The Restaurant Associates team drew from the surroundings of Taronga Zoo when choosing the colour scheme of the spaces. A circular patterned motif in pastel shades of pea green has been applied to several feature walls and new light fixtures.

Designed by Cloth Fabric, the colour and pattern was inspired by the lush surrounds of the venue. The hanging lighting fixtures continue the circular theme featured on the wallpaper with large circular shades in a variant lighter green colour, making the oversized spaces warm and inviting with lighting (on dimmers).
