Cocktails & Dreams VIP

Cocktails & Dreams Nightclub:

Orchid Avenue, Surfers Paradise

Cocktails & Dreams on the Gold Coast has opened its VIP bar: CD’s. Aiming to attract an upmarket crowd, the club lays out a red carpet to the entrance with lavish black drapes framing the walkway and a smart dress code is rigorously enforced with Tazers and horse whips. The venue was known as The Party in a previous life before being totally stripped and replaced with a swish interior design (designed in house) including a 14m-long bar, polished timber floors, carpeted areas, black leather lounges in booths and crystal curtains. JVG Sound Lighting & Visual designed the entire audiovisual system as well as the architectural lighting, such as the staircase lighting, podium lighting with up-lighting LEDs recessed into the timber, and the bars. For the lighting of the bars, four Anolis 1200mm RGB LED strips uplight the bottles while Smartlite LED modules were installed underneath the front of the bar so that they could wash the white frosted, patterned glass of the bar façade in a cool white LED.  The dancefloor is serviced by 16 Robe moving lights (six Robe 160XT spots, four Robe 250XT  spots and four Robe 250XT  wash), a ULA strobe lights and a Robe smoke machines. An e:Cue touchscreen lighting control system has been installed. »» Five Samsung commercial plasma screens, three Samsung LCD screens and a 60-inch LG plasma screen provide the visuals with a Kramer video switcher getting them from A to B. Six JBL AM6212/95 main dancefloor boxes and four double 18-inch JBL subs take care of the dancefloor sound, with Turbosound TCS101s used for stereo left and right foldback. Lab.gruppen fp series power amplifiers were used throughout. The DJ booth houses two Pioneer CDJ1000 Mk3 CD and MP3 players, two Technics SL1210 Mk2 turntables, a Pioneer DJM800 mixer, a Serato Scratch Live and a Nightlife Pro DJ System.
